Tropical Storm Milton Takes Aim at Florida: Life-Threatening Impacts Expected #hurricanemilton
Tropical Storm Milton formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 1:25 p.m. update.
The storm currently has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving north-northeast at 3 mph. Forecasts from the NHC predict the system will strengthen and could pose a significant risk to portions of Florida’s West Coast next week.
"We’re expecting a tropical storm or possibly a Category 1 hurricane to track across the state late Tuesday night into Wednesday,” said Max Defender 8 Meteorologist Rebecca Barry.
As of now, no watches or warnings have been issued by the NHC. Barry cautioned that it's still unclear which areas will face the strongest impacts, as the storm's path will depend on the eventual landfall location.
